We Believe

Though Journeys Community rejects rigid dogma and steers away from prescribed answers to spiritual questions, we do have some basic tenets to guide us.

Being an inclusive community, we honor each other’s right to worship the God of our own choosing since we also believe that there are many paths to connect with the Divine.

We recognize that our understanding of God is directly related to the contemporary culture in which we express our hopes, fears, dreams and desires. Therefore we recognize the practical and ordinary expressions of God in everyday language.

No matter where we are on our spiritual path, we believe in honoring our personal stories and acknowledging that each of us is a messenger and a teacher. We also ask questions. Spiritual growth stems from spiritual exploration. If we take time to live in the questions of our lives, we can go deeper into our experiences and our connection with Spirit.

Finally, we take personal accountability for our own spiritual paths, just as we take seriously our conscious connection and responsibility to the earth, and to causes of justice and peace.

Our Mission Statement:

Journeys Community provides spiritual nourishment for conscious living and opportunities to grow deeper in our connection with Spirit. We reach beyond religious traditions and offer an open-ended approach that asks questions, engages personal experience, and draws on many cultures and faith traditions and a variety of media.

To honor this mission, Journeys Community strives to:

  • Respect the beliefs and experiences of every individual as we encourage their spiritual growth.
  • Promote a sense of community among seekers by encouraging regular gatherings and by developing spiritual communities.
  • Provide spiritual healing, renewal, and self-knowledge through retreats, workshops, gatherings, and spiritual justice in action.
  • Offer our resources to seekers and seeker communities.
  • Provide accessible, cultural gatherings and programs that support inward and outward spiritual exploration and consciousness.
